Roots and Traditions

Roots define almost everyone in our society today. It reflects where we come from and what ethnic group we belong to. In addition to many other factors, our roots reflect our religion, culture, believes and most important, they define who we are.
We take the little things for granted like our “roots and traditions” which are often forgotten by many of us. We are too busy living in a fast paced world, with a society that is rapidly changing and evolving due to technology. Everything that surrounds us has something to do with a hi-tech product that is part of our everyday life.
From frozen food often called “TV Dinners”, “Gogurts”, and fast junk foods, we often eat on the go and most families don’t have time to cook a decent meal at home. This is also a result of technology. In these days we have learned how to make food last longer with preservatives, even years. As time passes, one day we won’t know what fresh food is, or how it tastes like.
This shows us that many families have forgotten what is like to sit down for dinner and spend quality time as a family. These are the little things that at the end affect us in a big way. Passing traditions from generation to generation and keeping our roots alive is what is going to help us as individuals.
A good example is the internet, even though it has brought us enormous advances in our lives, it has also contributed to end other industries. The printed newspaper is one the industries that has been more effected by this technology giant. The decline on newspaper subscriptions has been more noticeable over the years, forcing many newspapers to close their doors. As time goes by more people don’t read newspapers any more, they get their news online even before the newspaper is printed.
One of many others is the music industry that has been affected by the internet. The decline on music sales has forced many companies to disappear. We can go on and on in making a long list about companies and industries that have disappeared from our market due to a newer technology.
