The “Bienvenido Paisano” program, a journey to tell

They are asking Mexicans to be cautious; also the story of a woman who was kidnapped

It is time to migrate, to travel to your place of origin and enjoy the Holiday vacation. But also, the Mexican authorities, in U.S. territory and in Mexico, are asking “paisanos” especially those traveling by road, to take all the precautions and instructions to ensure their safety in order to avoid possible abuse and become victims of criminals.

That is way the Consul General of Mexico in Denver, Andrés Chao, recommends to use the main tool which will help you get informed, and have important numbers accessible in an emergency which is the “Guía Paisano 2011.” This resource is free and it is available in the offices of the Consulate. He also made an important recommendation: “Try to contact the immigration offices in your own State, to help you, inform you and even better, travel with other people who has a similar route, to support each other, and even avoid an unpleasant moment. “

On the other hand, there are those who fear to make the trip to Mexico due to insecurity and violence we are living, such as the case of Mrs. Rosa, who while traveling to Morelos, was kidnapped in Matehuala -San Luis Potosí- and told us her story with the objective that “paisanos” can take precautions and avoid to go through this bad experience, where they even received death threats and were taken to an empty lot with that purpose.

Recommendations
Andrés Chao, Consul General of Mexico in Denver, interviewed in his offices, said, if the trip to Mexico is by road and using your own vehicle, the first thing to do is to obtain a temporary import license for your vehicle, which can be done online at the “Banjercito” page or by going to the Consulate in person. Also, he explained that during this time of the year, there is a bigger exemption from $75 to $300 for the travelers to be able to bring a larger volume of merchandise tax free. “If 5 people travel in the same vehicle, we are talking about $1,500, and it is all about taking things using common sense for the trip to start well and to avoid setbacks,” he said.

That is why, he insisted on the travelers to review carefully the “Paisano Guide” and get properly informed about what you can take and what documents you need to keep handy. ...
