COLOMBIAN ROOTS | Humberto Troncoso and his passion for Real Estate.
Humberto Troncoso’s motto is “When you do what you love, results will be favorable.” That is how, in 1984 when he was still working for a financial institution in California, and out of fear of losing his job, he ventured into real. He then discovered it would be his career and “it got into his blood.” Ever since, he has done what he likes most and he is passionate about: real estate. Every house he sells –he related- feels like it was for him, as the joy felt by those getting a new home is transmitted to him as the one who made their dream possible.
Troncoso is from Bogota, Colombia and he migrated to Los Angeles, the San Fernando Valley, when he was 17-years-old together with his family. There, he finished his High School and two years of college. “No more school for me,” he says with a smile. His destiny would take a different route.
During his interview with El Comercio de Colorado, Troncoso remembered he started working at the Bank of America (in California) and he worked there for 18 years. After all those years, he even though about working there until retirement. At that time, he already had a family of his own. However, unrest about job stability made him decide to take action and he attended real estate school. He finished the classes and passed the tests. He had accomplished his goal and above all, obtained his own license which would allow him to develop his new career. Although he was still at the bank, he got going in the real estate business until he made it his full time occupation.
“I remember the first house I sold; it was for a friend at the bank. It happened so fast, my license had not arrived yet, and we had to close with the help of a colleague who already had a license. This house then cost $80,000 in Los Angeles, and I believe today it would be worth about $300,000… there!” he said.
He recognizes the work of selling homes became important to him. Ever since he sold his first home: “I would be thinking about the houses 24 hours a day. It got into my blood.
