Standup Comedy is a show based on humorous monologues. Most of the successful comedians consider this genre as the most effective way to measure their improvisation abilities. The connection between the comedian and its audience is direct, through a microphone. “It is harder to make people laugh than to make them cry,” is what they say. Soon Denver will be hosting Cristela Alonzo (March 15th-17th) and Jeff Garcia (March 31st) who are known in this genre. Cristela Alonzo started her career in Dallas and has been invited to some T.V. shows. Recently she was at the Conan O’Brien night show. Jeff Garcia, who is considered one of the best comedians in the country, provided his voice for the animated films “Happy Feet” and “The Barnyard.” Garcia’s monologues revolve around the fact of being a Latino living in a multi-cultural community.
