Humberto Troncoso’s motto is “When you do what you love, results will be favorable.” That is how, in 1984 when he was still working for a financial institution in California, and out of fear of losing his job, he ventured into real. Jason De Leon, assistant professor of anthropology at the University of Michigan, is collecting what has become the largest assemblage of migrant artifacts in the country. De Leon’s Undocumented Migration Project (UMP) is uncovering the stories behind the thousands of shoes, backpacks, and other materials discarded in the Sonora dessert and recovered by his team since 2008.

New report states moving forward to implement health reform’s affordable insurance exchanges

Twenty-eight States are on their way toward establishing a key component of health care reform -Affordable Insurance Exchanges- according to a report issued by the White House.
“States are taking strong steps to implement health reform,” said White House Deputy Chief of Staff Nancy-Ann DeParle. “The Obama Administration is working in partnership with State leaders across the country. We will ensure Americans in every State have access to an Exchange and the same kinds of insurance choices as Members of Congress.”

Group of workers seek to benefit undocumented persons with initiative regarding Driver’s Licenses

Although they recognize the job will not be easy and by no means have they expected a miracle, a group of workers have taken on the challenge to seek the inclusion of a proposal on the next electoral ballots for Colorado’s government to issue driver’s licenses to undocumented immigrants, under certain criteria.
For that purpose the first steps were taken, which were to present the initiative before the legislature, to be reviewed, for them to give suggestions and to get advice in case it would need things to be added or deleted from its original contents.
