Northglenn High School wins at the 2012 Project Citizen Showcase

Traffic at the intersection of 102nd and Huron had been a problem for some time. The Northglenn High School students decided to tackle the issue as part of their Project Citizen assignment. Not only were they able to actually fix the problem; but because of their solution, they took home the first place at the 2012 Project Citizen Showcase. “Stop Light” was a long term project. They approached the City of Northglenn in order to find out what was wrong with the traffic light at this intersection, since it was generating from 40 to 50 red light violations per day. Deportation of Hispanic mother is delayed

The mother of a Colorado outstanding student and athlete was released last Friday, a day after pro-immigration groups were mobilized in her defense. Her deportation was suspended for a year, said her son, Hector Morales, through a posting on a social network.
According to Morales, his mother Norma Galindo, who was held at the immigration detention center in Aurora was released at 5:30 pm on Friday and transported by a CIRC representative to her home in Basalt, 193 miles away.

Evita Perón, historic persona from the mid-twentieth century made a special appearance at Thornton High School, personified by talented students who had to learn about the history of Argentina in order to participate in this theatrical performance. This Broadway play was presented by the Thornton High School Choir Department and it involved about 175 high school students of diverse backgrounds.
